Have you thought about the future? What do you want to do with your life? How do you think our country should be governed?
These are the questions I asked several students. We are the next generation to inherit our country, so it's important that we have ideas and aspirations for our lives.
Lots of students here at MMS have very interesting career choices, and everyone I interviewed said they plan on going to college. Some of the jobs people mentioned were veterinarians, nature photographers, oceanologists, game programmers, teachers and aerospace engineers.
Everyone I interviewed said they think the president's primary focus should be on the economy, because it's in really bad shape. There were also lots of ideas to change the world, including ending world hunger, ending wars, stopping global warming, and ending gun control. Most kids think the voting age should stay the same. Logan F. from 8th grade said voting should be reserved for adults because they're mature enough to decide our country's future. Jacob R., also from 8th grade, said kids should be able to vote, but their votes should only count for 1/2 a vote.
When asked what teenagers care the most about, answers were varied. Some said teens cared most about technology, while others said they care most about appearance and popularity. Most of the people I talked to said teens can be very selfish, but they can focus on others' needs if they try.
